Star Wars and The Planets
During the month of May, amazing piano naturalists at our studio focused on the planets! In addition, we reviewed information about 2 incredible composers - John Williams and Gustav Holst. We listened to compositions by the 2 composers on our Listening Calendar.

There were various "Planet awareness" music theory games we played throughout the month that helps with notes and keyboard recognition.
In the spirit of Star Wars and "May the 4th Be With You", we began by listening to various compositions by John Williams for the Star Wars films. Next, we listened to Planets by Gustav Holst before attending the Family Earth and Sky Night event at South Carolina University Aiken. Those attending had the opportunity to look through telescopes and see the stars!
Our Performance & Theory Class was hosted by the Ogonga Family! Students shared information that they researched and learned about various planets, then performed Suzuki and reading pieces.William and Willow treated us with an ensemble. They performed Andantino by Shinichi Suzuki and did an excellent job! To hear their performance, visit here. William also performed a Star Wars solo on his Saxophone! The performance can be found here. We LOVE it when students show their additional talents.👏
After all of the performances, it was time for a bit of music theory. Since our theme was the planets, we played a theory game called "Race In Space".
The Ogonga Family went above and beyond in making this a joyful event for all!! Students were invited to go swimming after class, and they spoiled us with lots of delicious food!!! We thank them for their love and generosity in hosting this awesome event.♥ To see more photos, visit our studio gallery.
