Studio Assignment: Composer Research

The composer that we will focus on this month is Dr. Shinichi Suzuki.  Each student is to look up information online and write a brief report about what you have learned.  We will be working on lapbooks to display at the Columbia County library.  Find historical pictures of Suzuki, where he taught, etc., to include in your lapbooks.  Examples of lapbooks are below.  For additional examples and lessons/videos about how to make lapbooks click on the following links:

Please include photos taken during the JapanFest in your lapbooks.  This will make your reports highly informative and interesting when displayed at our local libraries.  

Preceding the festival, we will be having a master class with Pamela Smith.  Mrs. Smith studied the Suzuki method in Matsumoto Japan under Dr. Kataoka.  She will be checking to see how you are coming along with your technical study of Twinkles A-D, as well as the solo piece that each of you have selected to perform.  She will be able to give you helpful suggestions and encouragement.  Visit her lovely website here: Pamela Smith
