Suzuki, Stevie, and Stamping!

 Performance and Theory Classes was a blast! We started the day listening to reading and Suzuki Piano performances. Next, we focused on our Composer of the Month, Stevland Judkins Hardaway. (Stevie Wonder) Students turned in their worksheets with questions pertaining to what they had learned about the artist. They also did fun crossword and word search puzzles reviewing information about his life. A listening calendar was set up so that students could listen to his compositions along with nature themed pieces.

After all of our work was done, we enjoyed our snacks and socialized together with a bit of art. Students carved their letterboxing ID stamps that they will use for their Suzuki Letterboxing activity. To learn more about this, see:

The sounds of Stevie filled the air as they were carving away and socializing. I was so busy working with my students that I didn't think to take photos during the process of their work, but here are pics of a few students sharing the results of their soft-block carvings.

The letterboxes are hidden at various parks. Music theory and composer history worksheets with letterboxing clues are given to students to help in finding the location of the letterboxes.
